Digg V3 and personal stuff
06.26.06 - 05:18am
For those that didn’t know this was coming, the newest version of Digg.com is up and running. The team at Digg.com has decided that branching out would be necessary and I must admit they did a wonderful job in trying to keep the design simple and clean. With Digg.com’s estimate readership near 8 million users a month, this new version could easily triple traffic and more. One of the main concerns that I heard from users would be “Am I going to get business news in my tech feed?” and I believe Digg.com has managed to solve that issue. The frontpage contains top diggs from every section while each section has its own mini frontpage. I can only imagine was frontpaging the main page will do for a websites traffic but only time will tell. In the previous version around 40 diggs would “frontpage” an article however I think now to frontpage the requirement will be much more stringent. This new Digg should be interesting to see as it settles into a larger niche while competing with the new Netscape Digg ripoff.
On a more personal note, I have been slammed with work for the last two days with a huge project coming up in about a week. I’ll get back to writing on a more normal basis once July 4th rolls around and the second round of exams for school are over. I hate to say it but school comes first. Thanks for all the readers that pushed up the Opera article on Digg and thanks for reading what I write. Now back to the books.
