It is now rumored that Facebook is going to be announcing a move into the music space. This is a no brainer move for Facebook as the success of other social networking sites music areas. Whether they allow users to upload and mash up their own content remains to be seen. It is also unclear how they are going to monetize this operation - but be sure they will ask their users first. After the last facebook debacle, I am sure we will see a variety of feedback options that will be made available.

The interesting part of Facebook Music is that they have a unique opportunity to “do it right”. What I mean by this is learning from other social networking and even pure music sites. They have a strong user base that would definitely be interested in music offerings, but in what format? Would it be a player that you can upload music to then consume elsewhere? Will it be add supported? Will they try to sell music directly? The possibilities are endless…we will just have to wait and see.
