My June Previews finally arrived at my doorstep, only 3 days behind schedule due to the holiday last week.  I have started ordering from Mailordercomics.com, and I receive the previous week’s new releases on Mondays.  Most of my local comics shops have closed, and the ones that remain have done nothing but disappoint.  At times like this, I really miss Noel and Comics Plus.  Sigh.

As I flipped through Previews, a few titles jumped out at me, and I just can’t keep my excitement to myself!  Here are the titles that I’m looking forward to the most, and they should be headed your way in September.

Demon Flowers: Kuruizaki No Hana by Mizuki Hakase.  TOKYOPOP. I loved Demon Ororon, and I was delighted to see that another of Mizuki Hakase’s titles has been licensed.  This looks a little reminiscent of Ororon, with oni, half-gods, and human girl forming a (dysfunctional) family.

Immortal Rain Vol 8 by Kaori Ozaki.  TOKYOPOP.  Is it really the last volume?  Say it ain’t so!  This series never received the attention it deserved.  If you like action, adventure, and a sweet romance, this is the title for you.

I.N.V.U Vol 4 by Kim Kang Won.  TOKYOPOP.  Finally!!  How long have we waited for this one?  Do I even remember what was going on in previous volumes?  No!  Good thing I have a few months to re-read the first 3 books in the series.

Flock of Angels Vol 1 by Shoko Hamada.  Aurora Publishing.  Hmmm.  Pop bands and people with wings.  A boy who suddenly sprouts a pair of wings and becomes famous.  Sounds kind of corny, but I dig guys with wings!  Plus, it’s by new publisher, Aurora, and I’m curious to get my hands on a couple of their books.

Operation Liberate Men Vol 1 by Mira Lee.  Net Comics. Ah!  A magical kingdom where chicks rule and males are enslaved!  Sounds like my kind of place. When Sooha fails her high school entrance exam, she just wants to disappear. Recruited by a mysterious stranger to help liberate the men of his kingdom, she agrees to go with him to Para Kingdom.  Hey!  Wait!  You’re spoiling the fantasy!

Bride of the Water God Vol 1 by Mi-Kyung Yun. Dark Horse.  Human sacrifice gone good!  Soah is offered to the Water God to save her village from a drought, but instead of being killed, she’s whisked away to his magical kingdom.  I don’t think there can ever be enough fantasy romances published, so this one’s on my to buy list.

There are also new installments of Moon Child, Emma, Night of the BeastsDokebi Bride, Beauty Pop, and Skip Beat! to look forward to.  August is stacking up to be an awesome manga month!
