This was meant to be a comment on Jessy’s blog for this post (for some reason it won’t show the whole thing on the page for this post, but you can view her response in full in the following link [she's Summer1002]), but for some reason or another I couldn’t post it, so here it is on my blog. You’ll have to read her post in order to understand it a bit. Her post was a response to this note on 9rules.

Well, I have to say that I don’t consider myself a Christian, but I do however, believe in God. So with that said…

I believe that God is both good and evil. I don’t think that he intentionally brings pain and suffering to someone’s life, but I do believe that there is a purpose for all the pain and suffering that we all face. Whether it may be God’s intention, or the Devil’s, I’m not sure, but I can tell you that there are both good and evil forces in the universe.

I say that God is both good and evil because is is omni-potent etc. That would mean that he would have to encompass everything and it’s opposite. So God would be both good and evil, male and female, etc.

I don’t believe that we are pre-destined to go to hell or to heaven. We are human beings with a complex conscience, and we can develop our own reasoning and make our own decisions (free will). We have free-will for a reason. We are able to make our own choices because it would be pretty pointless if we didn’t, not to mention boring. Heaven and Hell is meant to be either a reward or punishment, depending on the choices that we make in our lives.

Sometimes I do think that God is looking down on us, pointing and laughing. But then at least I know that God has a sense of humor.

I think that there are a lot of hypocritical Christians out there. But, there are a lot of hypocritical non-Christians out there as well. It’s just that, as a Christian, you’re supposed to uphold all these moral laws, and it isn’t a pick and choose kind of thing. But we aren’t perfect beings.

Anyway…in a round about way I mostly agree with you, my logic is just a bit different.
