Rained out :-( April 10th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
As expected, tonight’s game in Chicago has been rained out. It actually works in the Twins favor as it will buy them a little bit of time in deciding who will fill Kevin Slowey’s spot in the rotation, if he can’t be ready himself.
After last night’s game, Ron Gardenhire’s quote gives me some optimism for the season:
“He had a big night,” Gardenhire said of Kubel, who finished with six RBI. “I’ve always said, I really believe this guy can hit. And you know what? He’s going to get plenty of opportunities this year. He had 450 [plate appearances] last year, and I think he’s going to get more than that this year.” Source: Startribune.com
Given regular playing time, Kubel could rival Justin Morneau as the team’s home run leader. There’s no reason he shouldn’t be the everyday DH when Michael Cuddyer returns, even against lefties.
Website notes
I’ve slowly been working on transitioning this site onto a new content management system, but unfortunately other work has taken priority. In the mean time, I have been making some small tweaks over the past week.
- I added the ESPN widget on the home page
- The home page shows one more entry than it used to.
- I’ve added the same Twins blog links that are on the clubhouse to the bottom of the right column on the home page.
- I made a small refresh to the site logo…a little more edgy now, I think.

By the way, if you have or know of any new Twins blogs that have hit the scene this year, please let me know. I’d like to add them to the clubhouse
