Banjo Threeie Preview
Banjo Kazooie was a wonderful little game. I loved pretty much everything about it. It was the closest I came to a sequel to Super Mario 64 (on the N64).
Banjo Tooie wasn’t so good. It looked nicer (using the N64’s RAM expansion pack), and the environments were much bigger… but for me that was a negative. I found the level objectives to be spread too far apart. I wanted the game to be smaller and the fun mroe intense.
Now Banjo Threeie (erm… Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts And Bolts) has been announced. They say the game world is 16 times larger than anything else they have ever created. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. Thankfully there are vehicles to get you around the level. I am not entirely sold on the idea but the technology seems very sound, and the fact you can build the vehicles yourself (from parts found hidden around the game world) inspires the LEGO lover within.
For me Rare have a long way to go before they reach the heady heights of their N64 successes.
