A brief history of sex in video games
May 30, 2008 | Video Games
An amusing & educational look at the history of sex in video games. Sex has been around in games for almost as long as game have existed. Sure, there’s lot’s of controversy now, but really - is it needed? There’s so much more violence than sex in games, and sex is required for the survival of the human race whereas violence… isn’t.
Anyway the video is by Daniel Floyd who’s a student (not a professor) at Savannah College of Art and Design and he made this for his coursework.

Really nice video though, however I’m not too sure I would go as far as to call video games a medium for art yet, even if there are a few stunning masterpieces amongst them. I certainly agree though that the controversy surrounding events such as the “Hot Coffee Mod” business was stunningly puerile given the nature of the rest of GTA: San Andreas’ action. Simulated death, destruction, wanton violence and hearty criminality are all easy meat, but pixelated porn? That’s clearly a step too far…
