For the first time in US History, the Supreme Court breached to topic of the text of the second amendment, and whether or not it allows for private gun ownership by citizens for their personal use.
In a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of individual gun rights and against the Washington D.C. gun ban and trigger lock laws.
Justice Antonin Scalia’s statement on the ruling stated that an individuals right to bear arms is supported by the historical narrative both before and after the Second Amendment was adopted and that the Constitution does not permit the absolute abolition of handguns owned for use in the home.
I expect a hailstorm of lawsuits in other anti-gun cities such as San Francisco and Chicago.
Those who ruled against your second amendment rights were Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter and John Paul Stevens.
