Small Miracles

Her sudden arrival in front of my doorstep proved to be more than a moments shock for me. Though it might have been a few seconds or it might have been a few minutes, but eventually, I did manage to break my own speechlessness.

"Umm…what are you doing here?"

"You sounded sad." Her voice echoing with a slight concern.

"I really didn't expect you to turn up" my mind raced to comprehend what was happening and what else I could say. "not this week at least."

"You…sounded…sad" She repeated again, slower, as if trying to teach a small child the simple basic facts.

I couldn't understand. I dared not understand what was happening to me. Yet there she was, standing right in front of me, removing her jacket, telling me she's there simply because I sounded sad. All my life I have pleaded to existence for a friend who'd be there in times of need. All my life I have been ignored throughout.

Until now.

I tried to understand. I couldn't understand. So I stopped trying to understand and started to appreciate the here and now. I was sad. She was here. What came next didn't need contemplation or understanding.

I hugged her tightly and let myself go. She embraced me back and reminded me that sometimes, just sometimes, small miracles do happen even in the darkest of moments.

Looking cute is one thing. Being cute is another. More often it’s what we do that has more an effect than how we look like. That’s the true miracle of the thing.

    Link away. :)

Thank you for that. The meaning of life can only be found in those moments. I think my life has more than I notice and your post reminded me of that.

Damien, It’s good to be reminded every once in a while about the things that are worth living for.
