Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2008: Photographs

Posted on July 13th, 2008 by Oliver White in Featured Articles, Other Events

BlogF1 has been neglected over the weekend, but for good reason. On Friday I drove up to Goodwood in Chichester to visit the Festival of Speed - an annual celebration of fast cars and brave drivers. Among the exhibitions and hillclimbs there were many Formula One stars and cars from both last year and many more previous. Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button turned up on the Sunday, and a variety of test drivers were out in force for their respective teams. BlogF1 will return to normal in the week.

    Love the Wacky Races cars!!

Also think the Atom is still one of the most fun looking cars I’ve ever seen, must be a hoot to drive!

What is the white car after the Atom? Looks quite nice too - and a bit more practical…

The Artega GT. The names of each cars are listed on my Flickr page.

    That Artega is gorgeous.

Great range of shots, that Aston looked mean (still covered in all the crap from Le Mans?) and yeah, I’m with you Craig, how much fun would an Atom be?

  4. Oliver White

still covered in all the crap from Le Mans?

Yep, a few of the Le Mans racers were still sporting their wounds, scars and face-paint from Circuit de la Sarthe.

Goodwood is on my list of things to do before I die. It’s a long way from Melbourne but dammit, it has to be done!

been to all car shows and this display of stars from all eras and cars of all styles added to that the generosity of the host and in such beautiful surroundings , and the moans you have at other shows of organisation etc are put right here. absolutely fantastic and second to none . keep it up

Must be one of the greatest motor events in the world. Such a wide range of cars on show, also nice to see them in action. Unique event. Hope I can visit it next year.

  8. Claire

Hi, just wondering if you could give me an idea of ticket prices for the Festival of Speed, because I would love to go next year, but have heard the tickets are quite expensive. Thanx

  9. Oliver White

Hi Claire, tickets can be expensive but I can only tell you what I paid earlier in the year. The ticket information isn’t on the official website at the moment and I cannot remember the prices of the single-day tickets. But for all three days plus reserved grandstand seats on two of the days and a free-for-all on the Friday (it’s always this way on Friday), it came out as £350 for two people (therefore I presume £175 each). Hope that helps a little, but keep your eye on the Goodwood website later in the year; they’ll post ticket prices when they announce the dates for the 2009 festival.

great photos of a world beating event, but how about a few of hadrest working volunteers in motor sport, the marshals without who there would be no festival of speed

  11. Oliver White

@Paul: Indeed, the marshals work very hard at all motorsporting events - they’re the glue that holds everything together. I got a few photos of them in 2007 (think I published one or two), but I agree, without them there would be no motor sport.
