10 Inspirational Offices
Inspiration comes in various sizes and forms, it can come from different sources, such as books, magazines, TV shows, and in this case, beautiful offices.
Here are ten inspirational office set-ups we’ve collected together for your viewing pleasure. Including offices which featured beautiful lighting, stunning desks, elegant simplicity, and high-tech gadgets and gizmos - we trust you won’t leave this page uninspired. On with the setups.

#1
Jorge Quinteros → www.jorgeq.com
There has to be a condition for people who enjoy seeing how personal space in which other fellow designers or people in general work. I always get a kick out of it. More than the actual space, I guess I enjoy the fact that the space is occupied by Macs. Nice selection of office space.
#2
Craig → www.craigmacproductions.com
YAY another post on setups with the same photos we’ve seen a hundred times before.
where’s the real content?
#3
reemixx → www.reemixx.com
I agree with Craig, this has been done to death, with exactly the same photos over and over.
#4
Ben Jacob → featherpot.com
Only Mac Pros/Macs ? NO PCs ? :(
Any way Macs are sexy.. Images of PC will distort the beauty of this website… Nice collection
#5
SeanOne thing lacking in all these setups, at least from my perspective, is a lack of physical desk space. For those of us who need room for drawing, including drawing tablets, these setups would be less than optimal.
#6
Brendan Falkowski → brendanfalkowski.com
I like #8 of 10 best. It’s the least cluttered.
#7
rmaspero → www.rmaspero.com
None of them are what I imagine to be a dream set-up. I would like 2 30″ displays then a 19″ vertically and a Wacom cintiq, I think that would be sweet.
#8
Claudio → textworker.ch
I like best #7. Looks really authentically and is not overloaded with technical equipment. It seems to me a great atmosphere to work.
#9
Sam → www.nowebsite.com
yet another boring article about desks! We wait for a week for some new content that you always state will be coming everyday to then be served with this dull stuff!
#10
Jonathan → www.jonathandavies.org.uk
Sam:
Don’t worry, I happen to know there is some good content coming - I submitted my latest article a while ago :-)
Though personally, I would like to see a lot more of Glenn’s opinionated articles again…
Jonathan

Adrian → www.navitronic.co.uk
Half of these pictures, though filled with expensive hardware, look absolutely terrible for working in.
#12
Guy DorHello,
I try a lot of time to make a good mac setup,

Adam Fisher-Cox → adamfishercox.com
None of these inspire me. Some are nice to look at, some are just plain ugly, and some would stress me out to have to work in. Fail.
#15
SamI miss glennwolsey.com
#16
Emmanuel → www.thegreatbitbucket.com
I like some of these setups, but I can say their inspirational. They are too high-end for me. Everyone’s got either Mac Pros or MacBook Pros. For a guy who doesn’t have a lot of money to begin with, it makes me feel sad. I wouldn’t say they were that inspiring, but rather they give me a sense that these people were a little materialistic, maybe even haughty. But, that aside, I really love the simplicity of a couple of these setups. I plan to have a nice simple setup one day. Also, can you put a few PCs with Windows/Linux. Spread the love on all platforms!
#17
Richard → www.rdsaunders.co.uk
As much as some of the setup looks nice. I don’t think I could work in many of them except #7. Whats so inspirational about #4?
On another note…
Since the move away from glennwolsey.com to desktop vibes I only come to this site occasionally rather than it be fed through RSS. The quality of articles has become quite poor and this is another example of a poor post showing us things we have already seen.
#18
Dirkyup… more of the same. Tomorrow, he’ll submit this to digg and spam all his twitter friends as well. Another fine 9rules blog.
#19
Blair Beckwith → pownce.com/blairbeckwith
I’m in agreement with the point that this has been done to death. BORING.
#20
KevinYeah… I like how every single computer is running Mac OS. Ugh… and I’ve never understood the purpose of having so many monitors. Sure, two might be nice, but does it KILL you to Alt+Tab between windows every once in a while?
#21
Panther → www.panthersweat.com
Wow! Those are some killer setups. Nice background too, is that from bitbox but mirrored X and Y?
#22
Steve Embleton → steveembleton.com
Id love to have that Mac Pro setup in the Attic. I could see myself spending alot of time on my own though!
#23
michael lockyearNot really offices are they? More like desks to me! Interesting to see that very few of their owners have solved the wire tangle problem.
#24
Mike Martin → mikemartinracing.com
It’s a good post and all with some neat desks, but like some other commenters said, wheres the CONTENT! There has been no real content on here, glennwolsey.com, or the glenn wolsey show in some time now, and I am miss all the great content Glenn used to produce. Furthermore, I submitted an article a while ago, and never even got an email response, what are u up to Glenn, at least let us know, so that we are not stuck wondering
#25
Craig → www.craigmacproductions.com
The fact that Glenn has not responded to any of the comments about lack of quality content is proof that he obviously isn’t as “inspired” or serious about blogging as he used to be/makes out to be.
Fair enough. He is still a kid after all.
One thing I would’ve liked to see is that if you’re not going to post anymore Glenn, at least be mature and let us know.
#26
Jonathan → www.jonathandavies.org.uk
I write for DesktopVibes and submitted my last article on the 19th May. It still hasn’t been published. I’m not sure why he hasn’t published it - I’m sure that I’m not the only one who has submitted an article.
But by the looks of this tweet (http://twitter.com/GlennWolsey/statuses/828269645) He’s been traveling… Though I’m not sure why nothing has happened.
Frankly a bit disappointed. I miss Glenn’s content, even if there are other authors doesn’t stop him from writing anything.
I think if Glenn did a quick email to all the Desktop Vibes writers and let them know what was planned for the site every so often it would be a bit easier for us to understand and communicate with readers what is going on.
If Glenn doesn’t have time to edit posts I would be happy to lend a hand :-)

andy → www.dungeonsdeep.com
What always irks me about these “dream” setups, is that people always have the most horrifying wire clutter. I must have all wire invisible to have the space truly inspiring. Otherwise, all that clutter gets in the way of ideas!
#31
croweWow, subliminal advertising at its finest. When looking at these pics, I noticed three things:
1) They’re all new Macs.
2) There isn’t even anything special about some of the pics except for the double-screen macs. (Like #8?)
3) Whoever put these together really tried hard to convey the sense that an office can be made “inspirational” simply by furnishing it with some Macs.
#32
luckyWhy is there one with just a mac tower sitting there? There is nothing exciting or inspirational about that. Hell, my desk looks better than that.
#33
JenLove what you do.
Never stop learning.
Form works with function.
Simple is beautiful.
Work hard, play hard.
You get what you pay for.
When you talk, we listen.
Must constantly improve.
Respect your inspiration.

according to his twitter account, Glenn returned home about 11 hours ago (I feel like a stalker), maybe we can get some answers now? I truthfully don’t care if my article wasn’t good enough, or wasn’t right for the site, I just want a response letting me know that he actually READS submitted articles, as I am leary to write anything new without knowing if they are even considered for posting
#37
GaryLove it. Thanks for posting :) Much inspiration.
#38
woogWhen I see these things, I think “Metrosexual design fag.”
#39
bored1. Numbers 4 and 7 are useless, they’re just empty desks.
2. comment 20 (kevin) needs to try dual or tri screening. Once you try it, it’s really difficult to go back. It makes almost everything more convenient.
3. To all of you complaining about the abundance of Macs:
a - They’re just computers. If you’re a PC user, pictures of macs aren’t going to make you ‘convert’, if you’re a mac user, good for you, your computer is aesthetically pleasing.
b - #1 is a Dell, aka not a mac
c - if it really pisses you off that much, pretend they’re just pc’s with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811164060 case, and silver monitors.
4. Although it hasn’t happened yet, mac vs. pc wars are retarded. Don’t start one, please.

Jim*sighs* For those who are not enjoying this and have something bad to say… why not just leave the page? It’s that simple. Evidently, something happened to where it made you take 30 seconds to 1 minute to type an entry that’s pretty much a waste reading. If you don’t like it, LEAVE… plain and simple. Thank you.
By the way, awesome post. Some have definitely given me a few ideas on what I want to do pretty soon with my office.

Richardjim *sigh*
As much as I agree with your comment in people moaning about the content that has been provided on this page some people read a large quantity of technical/mac/design content across the internet on a daily basis.
The vast majority of the images within his post have been seen on more than one occasion. Glenn has provided a lot of good content in the past but this post does not reflect some of his previous writing.
I understand Glenn is trying to expand his web presence and that can only be a good thing, however as a young man he needs to understand that people want to read original content and not regurgitate content that has already be written.
I will continue to read the posts within this site however content needs to be original, I have really enjoyed some of the posts recently on this site “A cover Story” was interesting, it was good to hear about the products background. More articles like this will only increase the visits to this site.
Glenn if you have the opportunity to read these comments please don’t feel as though you are being targeted by my response I just feel that you recent post does not reflect your ability to write informative articles.
I hope this comment does not spark further moaning and groaning but readers can understand that the majority of people want to read original content.
Regards
Richard

MOverpriced Unix PC’s! No originality! They might as well all be the same computer in every shot!
$1000 more for the SAME silver MAC everyone else has too! Apple has the creativity of a hampster.

JimRichard,
Well said. Thank you. I didn’t mean to be of any trouble or anything but I find it saddening when people just down the post, just for the ‘fun’ of it.

Chris → www.muddygeek.com
Seriously, who cares what brand the system is? I know all those look much better than desk. I have a 20″ with an HP Slimline. Guess what? Its still covered with books, papers, the occasional random laptop, and just good old crap. Oh yeah, can’t forget the coffee cup.

Some pretty sweet pics there, I wish I had the money right now for a setup like the one with all the huge connected monitors….omg

LanaNot bad at all..
#53
JimHave any of you ever tried to work beside 2-3 pro-macs when they are running at full load? Photos with multiple computers always amuse me because the noise/heat generated by the CPUs would be horrible. And what about the environmental cost of having that many power sucking computers/monitors (each laced with heavy metals and other toxins) in your office? Apparently, where you see inspiration, I see a colossal waste.
#54
Daniel Hollister → danielhollister.com
Any chance you’re ever going to fix that problem on the front page where it distorts the aspect ratio of every photo?
#55
Chris Thomson → chris24.ca
Great desktops. I’m not a huge fan of the first one, though — way too many cords.
#56
Chris Gilbert@Daniel - that will be fixed from here on out. Thanks for letting us know.

Chris → fluidmarkup.com
#7 is Dan Cederholm’s office in MA. He runs http://simplebits.com
Great web designer, and definitely a nice workspace. More practical than 90% (Yes, that’s the other 9! Good job!) of the “work” spaces pictured. Check out Panic’s office too, that’s nice stuff.
How you could ever get work done in any of those is beyond me.
#58
MonkeyI am a nerd and I love seeing pics like this. Some of them can provide inspiration…some make me cringe due to very poor ergonomics such as monitors up way too high.

Stefan Didak → www.stefandidak.com/ramble/2008/10/17/awarebear-andre-leite-alvez-irresponsible-unprofessional-careless
The drawback of having an inspirational office and posting pictures is that you never know where they might end up. Recently, Andre Leite Alves and his computer repair comany called AwareBear had stolen one of my images, pasted himself in there, and passed it off as his own in brochures for the company that were being distributed. You can read all about this on the link below.
