Inspiring Workspaces: Jaron Brass

Jason Brass’s Office: Consisting Of

Mac Pro 3GHz // 16GB RAM // 4x 500GB // X1900 XT // 2 x Superdrive // 2 x 30″ ACD // Logitech Z-5500 Sound System // 26″ Sony Bravia LCD TV //

About The Workspace

I’ve made some changes since my last series of pictures. Of course, the computer is new. I also replaced my old Philips LCD TV with a snazzy new 26″ Sony Bravia LCD. A bunch of accessories have managed to find their way to the machine, including a new Wacom tablet.

In addition to those changes, I recently had to send both of my displays in to AppleCare for repair. They both came back with new panels of the revision “B” variety. That means they’re not only brighter but they have improved contrast ratios. While the enclosures haven’t changed, the fact the panels are new has increased their lifespan by a large margin — meaning I won’t have to replace them all that soon.

Great its look awesome its my dream to have one like doze.

  3. Why would you have 2 30inch side by side on a desk like that?

Seems like a waste of screens.

A better setup would be to have a main “working” 30 inch, flanked by a 20 inch for stuff like email, ical, terminal etc.

Each to their own I guess.

Discuss: What would you change about this setup?

  4. And by “side by side” I mean both facing in the same direction, level with each other.

  5. Wow the 2×30’s make it beautiful.

  6. Agree with Adrian; the two 30″ ACD’s seem a little redundant. By sitting at the keyboard while they’re in those positions, your natural head position will be right in the middle, staring at the bezels between both screens. To increase productivity, it’s better to have a main focus point, ie: one screen only, and then a secondary/tertiary screens in other positions.

The only way the current side-by-side setup would be useful is if you work with apps that constantly span both screens. For instance, working with a video editing app with a timeline that spans both screens.

Even for graphic work, it’s still better to have a main screen, and a secondary screen for all your palettes and smaller windows.

Maybe it’s just me, but this particular setup, as well as several others featured on this website, seem very excessive and more for show than actual usability.

    Hi here againg.

Tomorrow i will take a picture of the screams of the editing group and you will tell me what you thing about them.

but the configuration this guy have i thing its great might be it look like the scream are bad set but for editor y thing its good, see something in one of the screams and edit in the other.

Of course I dont know a lot of mac and multi scream editing but i will have to get custom to it for editing problem when i work but i guess MAC don’t give doze problems.

  8. I agree with Adrian. I would move one display to the side and angle it towards me for use as a secondary screen. Also, the drawer on the left seems to be sitting a little low :P Is that a lava lamp?

  9. Very nice workspace, but I don’t know whether I could do real work there. It seems difficult to place two 30″ screens like that — as Adrian and Chris already noticed.

  10. I’m gonna be honest, this set-up (to me) isn’t inspiring at all. It just doesn’t seem very tasteful and the cords are a mess. It lacks the core fundamental attributes that define Apple products and computers

Nice…the monitor position wouldn’t work for me personally but I have to admit, I want dual 30’s and a Mac Pro to go with my Macbook Pro :-)

I can’t bring myself to buy the 30″ until Apple revises them. Would love to see the community pressure Apple to do this. These need faster response times, better contrast ratio, hdmi, display port, firewire 800, dual dvi, built in camera would be nice.
