Summary:
Naeka’s grades are so bad that she gets saddled with extra work. Kogarashi has an idea to help her out; apparently there is a special shrine that can grant any wish. However, you have to earn the wish through Fine Play which is just another name for fanservice. Fubuki and Naeka end up matched against Liz and Yoshie in a strange tennis match that seems to have no rules. The haphazard scoring allows Liz to devise completely illegal plays that score and completely demoralize Fubuki.
Fortunately, Kogarashi gives Naeka a hint that helps her realize that fanservice scores huge points with the shrine god. A quick Fubuki pantsu flash puts Naeka’s team one point away from victory. Yoshie then tries to match this by stripping down; however, the shrine god hates big women and strikes Yoshie down with lightning. With that, Naeka earns a charm that makes her a math genius every time she generates Fubuki fanservice. Liz also gets an anti-bed-wetting charm that works whenever she wears a white school swimsuit, and Fubuki earns a competent-maid charm that works when she wears cool and spicy lingerie under her maid outfit.
Reaction:
This was a strong return for Kamen no Maid Guy after the stinker last episode. The shrine god was awesome, especially in how he lowered rewards for cliche fanservice. The setup was very Darker than Black and/or xxxHolic. Fubuki was finally given a chance to shine and reveal interesting traits (like how she likes to disrobe when drunk). There was even some continuity with how Fubuki has been a dojikko-maid the last few episodes and can’t bear to be thought of as incompetent.
I wonder if the miko will show up again. We never got her name, but she seems to be very powerful. Moreover, she called Kogarashi “Gai” which implies those two have a past together. I sense a lovu-lovu flashback coming on! Also, I thought the final scene with Fubuki and Kogarashi was very amusing, even if it did recycle Maid Guy X-Ray. That price/reward really highlighted the genius of the shrine god. No wonder the miko was willing to go commando for clipboard powers.

“The shrine god was awesome”
if this was our god, the world would be more peaceful but ecchi…
Lovu-lovu flashback? Maid Guy doesn’t lust for women!
You’d have to be a lot more original with prayers to get what you wanted, too. Also, how do we know there wasn’t a time when even Kogarashi/Gai felt love…?
You know, “cool and spicy lingerie” for Fubuki’s not exactly hard to find… to judge from what we saw in Kogarashi’s X-ray vision in the first few eps. She’ll have NO problems from here on in.
… until her grandmother gets involved.
I still have the horrible image of lightning struck Yoshie burned in my mind…
issa-sa: you are weak. You need memetic filters, like Maid Guy, to clear up those problems.
One of these days I’m going to run a statistical analysis on your site and see just exactly what percentage of your posts contain some variation of the phrase “cool and spicy”.
Not saying it’s overused…just curious, ya know. =P
issa-sa: And not the “SEXY!” beforehand?
I don’t know why, but I really like it when Liz gets smacked around a lot. :P
Wow BigN, I didn’t know you like seeing little girls being taught a lesson as much as I did.
Insert that Kurenai picture of Murasaki getting smacked by the thug.
I searched for “cool and spicy” and (including this one) I returned only 3 results out of 1677 posts (0.17889%). Now there might be some variations, but only 5 posts after the first episode of Shugo Chara contain the word “spicy.”
Not the same thing. I didn’t like that at all. :3
Shin: It’s not that Liz is a little kid. It’s her attitude to pretty much everyone that kinda justifies it for me. She doesn’t have to be such an insecure jerk about the stuff she complains about. :P
But I have to admit that it is fun seeing her as the unintentional recipient of a homerun tennis swing just because it’s funny slapstick.
“SEXAY” was epic lulzfest. Who knew tennis would have been so hilarious?
Oh, and I found THIS after watching this episode. HILARIOUS.
