Summary:
Apparently the attack on the convoy was an assassination attempt Union Council General/Envoy, Bay Gelabu Belashi. The Union and the Federation are arguing over the neutral land of Aolis, so Birdy investigates the Ulugarian (dog-guy) that was at the scene of the crime. Unfortunately, before she can question Boila, Nejula kills him and then Boila’s pirate buddy “Wedola” gets away with the help of stripper Ulugarian Nimukay.
The terrorist group calls itself Revolutionary Order and is headed by King-Zero, an Ulugarian that Nejula and Birdy apprehended previously. After a lot of pointless stuff, we find out that Revolutionary Order is sponsored by Bay Gelabu Belashi (he only pretended to be blown up). The real target of Revolutionary Order is the Committee so that the Union can move in and take over Aolis. The plan is foiled when Birdy uses some Jedi mind tricks on Nimukay, but as it turns out the pirate (Kashugeza) was a double-agent working for Skeletsu the whole time.
Reaction:
Huh? Talk about needlessly complicated. The whole series of twists and turns felt so pointless, but maybe it was to make it seem like no one in the police department can be trusted. The only parts I really enjoyed were the scenes with the chin-scratching and the scene where Tsutomu gets tased. Tsutomu tried to be sneaky, but I have a very hard time believing that all the Ulugarian’s wouldn’t have heard or smelled him sneaking around.
What was even the point of having Nejula show up? All she did was kill a lead and then run away. They mentioned the marionette that raised Birdy, Violin. I found myself not caring. Kashugeza had the whole thing under control anyway, so Birdy didn’t even need to be there. I did appreciate how Birdy attacked King-Zero in the middle of his speeches, though.
