It is no secret that Obama feels his simply running for President has gifted him with the experience needed to run this country… but if you needed any more proof that he is full of himself, his recent interview with Anderson Cooper did a pretty good job of proving it.
When asked about his striking lack of executive experience, Barack responded with:
Well, you know, my understanding is, is that Governor Palin’s town of Wasilly [sic] has, I think, 50 employees. We have got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month.
So, I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute, I think, has been made clear over the last couple of years. And, certainly, in terms of the legislation that I passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina of how we handle emergency management, the fact that many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place as we speak, I think, indicates the degree to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.
All points aside, two things LEAP out at me from this comment right away. First, Obama intentionally mispronounced Wasilla, referring to it as Wasilly (it’s a small town, and small towns are hilarious to Democrats). His second glaring omission was that Sarah Palin hasn’t just stepped out of being a Mayor and headed towards VP… she is acting Governor of the entire state of Alaska (with an 80%+ approval rating).
As for Obama’s “record” on post Katrina leadership… no less than fourteen speeches and press conferences voicing his concerns on the issue, as well as a few commencement speeches. Co-Sponsoring three or four bills in Congress and introducing 3 bills of his own.
Sounds like the job description of a Senator to me… hardly “executive” experience.
As for Governor Palin’s employees and budget?
Obama listed his campaign employment numbers at roughly 2,500… The state of Alaska under Governor Palin employs over 25,000. Ten times that of Obama’s campaign.
Obama listed HIS budget at $36 million a month… Governor Palin manages the state of Alaska with an annual budget of $9 Billion. For Obama that is $750 Million a month.
Obama is running for Office, he isn’t running his budget OR his campaign.
Penny Pritzker is Obama’s Campaign Finance manager, NOT Obama… nice pick BTW.
David Plouffe is Obama’s Campaign Manager, NOT Obama…
If Obama’s experience is in managing his campaign and campaign finances, I now announce the 2008 Democratic Ticket… Plouffe/Pritzker!
Give me a break!
