can't resist: more on palin/mccain
This struck me funny. The bulk of Sarah Palin's "executive experience" took place here:
In an old interview, Palin said of this job: "It's not rocket science."
And a potpourri of other items that I thought made good points on why this was such a reckless move by John McCain, and what is says about his judgment.
What McCain has said about the role of VP:
"The vice president
has two duties. One is to inquire daily as to the health of the
president, and the other is to attend the funerals of third world
dictators." -- "Meet the Press, 2000
"The vice president really only has two duties. One is to cast a tie-breaking vote in the case of a tied vote in the Senate. And the other is to inquire daily as to the health of the president. [laughs] A vice president brings a certain area of expertise and talent. I would probably assign some of those areas, like telecommunications or some other important issues." Republican debate, Aug 2007
"But I would rely on a vice president of the United States ... the primary responsibility is to select one who will immediately take your place is necessary. But the vice president of the United States is a key and important issue, and must add in carrying out the responsibilities of the president of the United States." -- Republican debate, Nov 2007

Because I believe this is the most important presidential election in my lifetime, I will be writing more about it, but I'm done with this lightweight for now.

I think I want to give her one bit of credit where I think credit is due: she is pro-life and actually lives with it. There are FAR too many people, politicians especially, who say they follow a particular idea, but can't follow through on that idea when the opportunity is there to live by it. Some of the worst people, in politics or life in general, are people who talk the talk but can't walk the walk. Had she aborted that child, it would have spoken volumes more about the kind of person she it. Not because she aborted it, but because she said she wouldn't.
That said, if she becomes VP, we're screwed.............

Actually, Hawkeye...that's kinda funny too, cuz when her ex-brother-in-law pissed her off, she got his butt aborted...I mean, fired.
Yeah, we're screwed if she becomes VP; it's a 50-50 deal she'll become President before McCain's Presidency runs out. Great!
One thing I noticed though...the two share the joy of potty-mouth aimed at other people; such a nice way for a US Diplomat to behave, huh?
Thanks for this GREAT Blog, Ms Analyst

re: slashing funding for teen mothers needing a home....of course the state shouldn't support this. First, those girls shouldn't be havign sex. With abstinence only sex-ed that will fix most teen pregnacies...Panties up, skirt down as they once said.
Second if you come from a nice, good well-off family like Bristol, then you ahve a place to stay and a great family and convention of GOPers to support you for your moral decision.
Yeah. Tax money saved!!!

I'm not a republican by I fail to see how Obama somehow has more experience than Palin. And he's not the VP, he's the main man. Both seem WOEFULLY inexperienced to me. I'd like to vote "none of the above".

Dnlee, sarcasm noted. Obviously that abstinence-only talk didn't work too well in Bristol's case.
Isaac, Obama has far more relevant experience and qualifications. If "executive" experience is the standard, then a guy who has run a drive-through coffee kiosk or a small accounting firm for 10 years has more experience than all four of them.
I want someone in office that has intellect, an excellent working knowledge of the constitution and how legislation is made, and who has good judgement. In which case, my choice is clear.
I'm curious what type of experience, education, and qualifications people who have not decided on who they'll vote for are interested in.
