On my drive back to Montreal yesterday, I realized that I probably came off a little harsh in my last two posts.
By no means am I telling you not to play with tools, or to experiment with existing technologies to serve whatever goal you have. I’m just hoping that you’re not diving into these experiments with the intent to strike gold and be propelled into the successful stratosphere.
Playing and experimenting are necessities to advancing our society — they make a habit of testing and expanding our boundaries. But if you’re looking to achieve monumental, world-changing successes… the odds are stacked against you if you’re not solving something.
So if you’re looking to make it big, here’s my advice:
Let problems drive you, and let experiments (or play) be your guide.
You’ll have a destination, but the detours and wrong turns will be part of — if not most of — the fun.
