Syl caught a photo of Boo (Mini Rat Terrier) in a rare "not bouncing off the wall and couch" mode
The later part of 2007 was more or less a turning point in my life on both a personal and professional level. Life was moving at such a pace that the Christmas Holiday and ushering in of a New Year caught me completely off guard. But 2008 is here! To everyone who has supported and celebrated with me along the way, thank you.
My 2008 New Years resolutions?
- Lose weight. My building has a decent gym in it, but I have only used it once. I’ve gained 15 lbs. since my last workout (which was too long ago).
- Be healthy. Last year I spent more at the vet for Boo than I did on myself for doctors visits in the last 12 months. Probably a sign that I should see the doctor more.
- Continue to curb my tendency to pick-up anything shiny and electronic.
To all of the 5thirtyone.com readers who have ever commented, sent a sarcastic remark in via email, or exchanged messages via IM… thank you for reminding me why I continue to push content. RSS subscriptions are at an all-time high, and the entire site has over 4,400 comments! Here’s to keeping the momentum for 2008! Let everyone know what your New Year’s resolution is and one contributor will be selected at random for a $25 iTunes Music Store credit.
Crossing my fingers that by this time next year, the "Krippin Virus" has not infected humans and animals. Just kidding. I Am Legend was the last film I caught in 2007 and I have to say, I was disappointed. Another "zombie" movie - a mashup of Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, and Resident Evil rolled into one. Maybe I’m all wrong though. What did you think?
UPDATE 01/14: Matthew was randomly selected as the winner of the iTunes gift card.

My New Years resolution is to never ever mistake you’re for your. Cough. Cough.
I’d also like to only spend money on things I’m actually going to use, especially in the matter of video games.

My New Years Resolution was not to make any. There are plenty of things I want to do over the next year, but I don’t plan on making any of those things ‘resolutions’, or I definitely won’t do them …
Happy New Year, Derek!

Richard caught my usual mistake
Did I mention that I wrote all this with 3 hours of sleep under my belt?
So in the matter of video games, are you saying that you want to make wiser game purchases? Or, are you saying you want to refrain from purchasing games because you don’t actually use them?

My resolution is to actually read at least one book every month. There are so many things I want to learn and enjoy, but I’ve always had trouble getting around to them.

So when the Kindle was launched, I almost convinced myself to try and get one because I told myself it would motivate me to read. Thankfully I chalked it up as gadget whoring. Good plan to try and read one book a month. What is your first book going to be?
Andy, Derek says "resolution" = todo list.

My new years resolution is to stop being such a lurker and comment on more websites… Here goes nothing!
And as for I Am Legend, I suggest you read the book - instead of the film seeming a copy of all the other great zombie movies, the great zombie movies take a LOT of their stuff from Matheson’s book. Plus the ending of the book properly creeped me out!

If you watched I am Legend at the IMAX you would have gotten to see the awesome 6 minute preview of The Dark Night. It actually makes you forget your even here to watch I am Legend. But I did enjoy the movie, except for the dog vampires. I believe animals couldn’t become infected in the book.
